I don’t understand Instagram-worthy food. Unicorn Frappes, rainbow bagels, cake slice milkshakes all sound like food trends that have nothing to do with the taste or flavor of food. Taiyaki NYC is not that way; it’s the best of both worlds. It’s Instagram fodder that tastes amazing.
Taiyaki NYC is based off a Japanese dessert that consists of dough baked to look like a fish, with sweet azuki inside. At Taiyaki in NYC’s Chinatown, the dough is baked to be a cone, and you can fill it with your own choice of soft serve. My favorite is Straight Outta Japan: matcha/sesame seed soft serve, red bean filling, mocha and a pirouette wafer. If you want something more ostentatious, there’s a Unicorn Cone. Or if you wanna take it easy, just a simple soft serve in a cup will do the trick. You can even create your own! Taiyaki NYC is absolute summer perfection.
