Join panelists Rena Heinrich, Quincy Carroll, Lauren Lola, and Ingrid Hu Dahl, in conversation with moderator Jaena Rae Cabrera, as they discuss the craft of writing, the power of representation, and the role of storytelling in redefining what it means to belong.

3:15 - 4:00 PM

Adoptee Voices: Navigating Identity and Family with Tati Gabrielle

Adoption is a deeply personal journey that shapes identity, belonging, and family in powerful ways. This panel brings together Asian adoptees and their families to share stories that reflect the complexities, challenges, and joys of navigating adoption across cultures and generations. Panelists will speak candidly about identity formation, the intersections of race and family, and how adoptees build community and self-understanding. Whether you are an adoptee, part of an adoptive family, or an ally seeking to learn, this conversation offers space to honor lived experiences, uplift adoptee voices, and celebrate the diverse ways families are created and defined.

4:30 - 5:15 PM

Family Expectations and Mixed Asian Belonging with Yellow Chair Collective.

This panel explores the complex dynamics of family expectations within mixed Asian households and how they shape identity, belonging, and mental health. Guided by therapists from Yellow Chair Collective, the conversation will open space for honest dialogue around cultural pressures, intergenerational differences, and the unique challenges and strengths of navigating life as a mixed Asian.

5:45 - 6:30 PM

We Are Not a Monolith: Broadening Mixed AAPINA Identity Beyond the Wasian Narrative with Miliantly Mixed

The Mixed AAPINA (Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native American) experience is richly diverse yet most representation continues to center Wasian (White + East Asian) identity. This panel seeks to push beyond that narrative and uplift voices across the full range of Mixed AAPINA experiences.

7:00 - 9:00 PM

Boba Tea and Sabobatage Mixer with special guest Kristi Yummykoch

*Check-in begins 30 minutes before each event. By entering the Mixed Asian Day celebration, you agree to be photographed/videoed

Mixed Asian Media created this day alongside Leviathan Lab to celebrate what it means to be mixed Asian. We aim to bring together an inclusive community that truly embraces the diversity of Asian Pacifica identities, including those of Asian adoptees. Every individual brings a unique perspective that enriches our collective narrative. Whether you're mixed, an Asian adoptee, or an ally who values and supports inclusivity, your presence is a valued thread in this diverse tapestry.

Mixed Asian Day® 2025 Presented By:

Community Supporters:

In 2021, MAM Created Mixed Asian Media Fest, a celebration of mixed Asian and Pacific Islanders who express themselves through creative art forms — including film, theatre, art, dance, and more! Part film festival, part “Mixed Asian Convention,” MAMF was an amalgamation of panels, discussions, performances, screenings, and networking/socializing events.

The five-day inaugural MAM Fest was completely virtual (in light of COVID-19) allowing for a wide variety of online guest speakers, panels, and engagement.

The second MAMF was a three-day weekend, in-person event in NYC, packed with programming! Winners were selected and awarded prizes at the end of the fest.

In 2023, MAM transitioned from MAMF to Mixed Asian Day®, eliminating the film festival portion, while continuing similar programming of panels, screenings, community-focused events, and (of course) a party!

Below you can find highlights from previous years.

MAM hopes to continue the event every year, creating a space for community and friends to come together and celebrate.

With the increase in diversity in the U.S., comes the need to empower diverse-owned media as the voices of their communities. As the media industry is becoming more inclusive of diverse voices, we are excited to lead the charge, along with the team at MAM, to tell more mixed Asian stories and elevate representation.
— Patricia Ratulangi, Nielsen’s VP, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
ACE NextGen is proud to sponsor the MAM Fest 2022. As an ally of Asian American Pacific Islanders entrepreneurs, ACE NextGen believes that there can be more representation for AAPI across TV, movies, and theater. We believe in the work that MAM is doing, to change and build a community for mixed Asians in media.
— Kat Pham, Program Director of ACE NextGen
Asian Hustle Network will always be a proud supporter of MAM Fest. For too long the mixed Asian community has been overlooked and Alex along with the MAM team are bringing much-needed representation and voices to the community. We are excited about this event to bring the community together.
— Bryan Pham, Founder of Asian Hustle Network
