Recipe: Apple Strudel

My Grandmama makes the best Apple Strudel. It has taken me years to get her to teach me out to make this. Her Apple Strudel is pure gold to me. My mother and I will fight over it. My friends beg for it. So you all should be freaking honored I got her to write her recipe down for your own baking pleasure.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cups Flour

  • 1 Cup Bisquick

  • 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil

  • 2 Apples

  • To taste Walnuts

  • To taste Raisins

  • 1 Jar Strawberry Jam

  • 3 Tbsp Cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup Sugar

  • Crisco

  • Optional Chocolate Chips

  • 1 Lemon

Instructions

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Peel and slice 2 apples thin. Drizzle with a little lemon juice

3. Lightly grease a baking sheet

4. Add together:

  • 1 1/2 Cups of flour

  • 1 Cup of Bisquick

  • 1/4 Cup of vegetable oil

  • add warm water to get to consistency to form a ball

5. Flour cutting board6. Divide dough into 2 - 3 pieces and roll out each piece.7. Spread rolled out dough with strawberry jam8. Add apple slices, walnuts, and raisins9. Add a mixture of cinnamon and sugar10. Add dots of Crisco (about 4 that are 1/4 teaspoon size11. Sprinkle with a little flour12. Roll up, cut slits in top of roll, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture13. Bake until brown

Yield: 1 Strudel
