What is your name/brand name?
Vanessa Nguyen
What makes you Hapa?
I'm a quarter-white and was raised in a Vietnamese household.
What kind of art do you create?
I'm a graphic designer. But I mainly illustrate on the side; from prints to books.
If applicable, how does being Hapa apply to your work?
I often create work that reflects on my Asian identity.
How long have you been an artist?
I've been interested in art all my life, but started pursuing it as a professional career when I hit college.
What are your favorite holiday traditions?
I love Tet (the Vietnamese New Year). Family is emphasized heavily during this time as well as food. It's a time to gather and reconnect with family over yummy food!
What are your favorite pieces of your work?
My favorite piece is my Asian-American Coloring Book [How Do You Say Your Name]! It was my undergraduate thesis and by far a piece that took me the longest to complete.
Where can people find your work? (Physical location or website)
What are your social media handles (IG or Twitter)?
